These Boots Are Made For Walking

It might be summer soon (or even already as the temperatures might have us believe) but boots are always big and this year they’re even bigger. Everyone needs to own a pair of sturdy boots that can see you through the year. Not only can they get you through the thick snow we have experienced over the last couple of winters, but they can also offset a dainty little summer dress with a bit of a quirk.


Boots look after your feet, they are warm, usually waterproof, and can get you across any terrain, including that mud swamped festival and this is where boots come in to their own in the summer months.

No English festival is complete without mud and there is no shortage of it, ever. Do not even think about attending a festival this year without a decent pair of boots. But which style to choose? Here are our style ideas.

First of all let’s look at what’s in fashion; flares, playsuits, lace, biker looks and punk. Throw a pair of ankle high boots with any of these and it will work. Lace might stand out as a question mark, but any chunky boots will look amazing with the most girly, feminine materials and styles.

Cowboy boots are the obvious choice but this year we’re saying ditch those, they’ve already been done, instead opt for a really durable military style boot as seen on the likes of Jessica Alba. These can be flat and robust or you can go for a peep toe heel, a confusing combination of feminine and masculine.

Now if you are a real country girl you might want to bypass the ankle boots and go straight for a knee high equestrian style boot, Hunter wellies are of course a staple boot but the city streets call for something a little different. Real leather, extra long length boots with brass buckles are so fashionable now and scream rural. And with William having only just taken his bride down the aisle, looking like royalty has never been so popular.

If you want to stick to rough and ready, go for the ankle styles, as vintage and worn as possible, if you wear boots, make sure they look like they have a story or two to tell.
